An Introduction to Ad Hoc Reporting, Report Models, and the Report Builder (Video Series)
Video Category:
Ad-Hoc Reporting, Report Models, and the Report Builder
Skill Level:
300 (Intermediate)
Versions/Editions Covered:
SQL Server 2005
In the 'original' SQL Server Reporting Services (for SQL Server 2000), the only built-in tool to develop reports was the Visual Studio shell. A lot of people were intimidated by the Visual Studio and also did not appreciate having to incur extra cost just so that they develop reports. Today, Microsoft includes the Report Builder tool - a browser-delivered report building tool that any user can use.
This series is designed to help you understand what report models are and how they can be used with the Report Builder to generate and create great looking reports, all from your browser. There are pre-requisites (or post-requisites, if you prefer): this video series does not talk about security so, if you haven't already watched our videos on security, you'll want to do so before or after watching this series.
